Dans le but de mettre en place un puit de carbone agroforestier au plateau de Batéké avec des matériels adaptés et productifs, une expérimentation sur la croissance et l’adaptation de 46 provenances-génotypes asiatiques d’Acacia mangium a été conduite à Ibi/Plateau de Batéké en République démocratique du Congo. Les résultats ont montré après 5 ans que les meilleurs taux de survie ont été obtenus par les provenances-génotypes M13 originaire d’Australie (QLD), M17et M29 originaires de Papouasie nouvelle guinée (PNG) avec 93%. En ce qui concerne les circonférences, les plus grandes tailles ont été atteintes par les provenances-génotypes M01 d’Australie (60,6 cm) et M37 de Papouasie nouvelle guinée (56,7 cm). Les provenances-génotypes à meilleurs taux de survie sont soit monocaules (M13, M1) soit indifférents (M29) alors que celles à meilleures circonférences à la hauteur de la poitrine (CHP) sont toutes indifférentes (tantôt monocaules tantôt polycaules). Les provenances-génotypes ayant présenté, dans les conditions du milieu expérimental, à la fois un bon taux de survie et une bonne CHP à 5 ans sont principalement M13 (93% ; 50,4 cm) (QLD), M19 (87% ; 50,6 cm) (PNG), M36 (73% ; 50,5 cm) (PNG) et M14 (73% ; 50 cm) (QLD).
