The objective of this research is to understand and explain the potential link between the formalization of inter-organization relationships and trust between members of the relationship. These two concepts are described in the literature as complementary, given their shortcomings when considered independently. To conduct this research, we first present the literature on both concepts, then formulate hypotheses using a hypothetical-deductive approach, and collect information from 54 cooperative SMEs. We observe a positive relationship between contract formalization and trust. However, there is no relationship between monitoring and control provisions and trust.

Cette recherche a pour objectifs de comprendre et d’expliquer le lien qui pourrait exister entre la formalisation des relations interentreprises et la confiance entre les membres de la relation. Ces deux concepts décrits dans la littérature comme étant complémentaire compte tenu de leurs insuffisances prises de façon isolées. Pour mener à bien cette recherche, nous présentons d’abord la littérature sur les deux concepts, par la suite, une formulation des hypothèses par une approche hypothético déductive, et le recueil des informations auprès de 54 PME en coopération. Nous constatons une relation positive entre la formalisation du contrat sur la confiance. Mais pas de relation entre les dispositions de suivi et de contrôle et la confiance.
